The name i.e. “Verbiteract” literally means “Verbal Interaction”. Students are taught the correct method of harnessing their speaking and debating abilities.
The
following activities are organized by the club every Friday :

· Extempore
· Debate
· Vocabulary Classes
The students are increasingly vigilant about the modern day scenario and this has been achieved through debates, conversations and of course numerous verbal interactions.
Aims and Objectives:
· The Debating Club helps to instill in the students confidence in public speaking thereby enhancing their personality.
· The
various workshops and Intra and Inter School events are all
organized with the objective of harnessing and bringing to the
forefront the innate talent that exists in many of our students.
· The
Club aims at helping the
students to stand out in
today’s competitive environment with
confidence and self-reliability.
· The Club firmly believes in standing up for its ideals while always maintaining the spirit of competition that every contender needs to possess to win the game.
· The Club aims to participate in more Inter-School events and competitions.
· The Club plans to conduct a greater deal of Intra-School events.
· The Club aims to develop the personality of students and equip them with necessary skills for communicating with confidence.
Verbiteract, The Debating Society
Effecting speaking is one of the most essential arts that one needs to master in order to develop a wholesome personality. The Verbiteract Club aims at harnessing the young minds and grooms the debating abilities to bring about the eloquence in speech, so very important in the contemporary world.
The club encourages the members to give vent to their fiery thoughts in a disciplined manner to ultimately emerge as winners in any competition. The Club also trains the members to be good listeners which are the first step to being an impressionable speaker.
In the academic year 2009-10 the members of the club have participated in various Intra and Inter school events and won laurels. They have been doing the school proud for the last few years and this year has not been an exception. The club provides enough exposure to the young members by organizing debates, extempore speech competitions, elocution for the seniors and recitation as well as story-telling competition for the juniors.
The school was proudly represented by Ankita Basu, Jayasreee Saraswat, Dimpal Varshney Sneha Karmakar and Juhi Agarwal at the first Model United Nations Event in Eastern India, in the month of the May, 2009, conducted by La Martiniere for Boys . The motion for the participants from our school was The Humanitarian Crisis in Darfur. The three day long conference was a novel and an enriching learning experience for all involved. Ankita Basu's speech was highly praised. The other participants were quite commendable.
Satyapriyal Lal and Soumi Das participated in the Complan Gurukul Inter-Educational Institute’s Fest at Oberoi Grand. Satyapriyal Lal was adjudged the best speaker for the debate on an interesting motion – ‘Should the class X exams be scrapped.’
The school was also proudly represented at the Frank Anthony – Extemporary Speech Competition. The members also had the opportunity of participating in an online debate. The motion was a challenging one which ran as follows – ‘In this era of globalization, IPL could be moved anywhere’. The participants were Soumi Das, Souradeep Ghosh, Ansul Mohapatra, Ayush Nad, Sumit Kumar Thakur and Shreya Halder.
The preliminary round of the Frank Anthony Memorial Debate was hosted by Pratt Memorial School where Ankita Basu, one of our participants was adjudged the Best Speaker and the school was declared Runners Up. The final round of The Frank Anthony Memorial Debate hosted by St. Xavier’s Collegiate School saw two proud speakers – Jayasree Saraswat and Ankita Basu doing pretty well for themselves as they spoke for and against the motion – ‘The world will never be able to speak the same language.’
The school also participated in the Regional Debate Competition under the aegis of ASISC, West Bengal Chapter at ‘Mahavir Institute of Education and Research’ in both the junior and senior categories. The topics were – 'Optional Secondary Level Exams Empowers Students Positively' and 'Use of Force is counterproductive in Fighting Terrorism’. The participants were Saika Majumder, Satyapriya Lal, Ankita Basu and Jayasree Saraswat. Ankita Basu won the award for the best speaker in the senior category and the school was declared as Runners Up.
The Club shall continue with its tireless training sessions to bring out the best in young speakers and helping them to be more confident and achieve perfection.
