NGHSS has launched a unique career counselling programme to help students make a wise career decision. This programme is aimed at guiding the students towards a career path that best suits their interests, aptitude and capability.

 

Two  Career Counsellors Mr. D. N. Chatterjee and Mr. G. Chatterjee at NGHSS are guiding the candidates towards their careers and field of studies that best suits their personality, aptitude and potentials. Moreover, taking into consideration the growing concerns of the parents and guardians, the career counselling programme also emphasizes on appropriate interaction with the parents and guardians of the candidates.

 

With this exclusive career counselling programme, students will be able to:
 

• Define their purpose / mission and preferred lifestyle.
• Identify their strengths, needs and other personal characteristics.
• Acquire the knowledge and skills to identify and explore career options.
• Have a clear focus as they decide on their subject combinations and understanding of how to make educational and career decisions during further education.
• High school students could have increased motivation for Grade 11 and 12 courses, seeing the connection to the future.
• Students could have a better understanding in choosing courses as they relate to future educational programmes.
• Enhance their optimism and boost their confidence.
• Enhance their effectiveness and efficiency.

The career counseling department of NGHSS has already conducted two programmes in the school premises on 26^th and 28^th August 2008. The first program has been conducted with MAAC for the students of class XI and XII and the second one with the Rottery Club Kolkata, for class X.

 

Students have shown their immense interest and enjoyed these programme very much. In the interactive session, with the resource personal they have clarified their career oriented queries and started choosing different courses for their future education.

 

The NSHM knowledge campus of Kolkata had organized a career counseling programme called “Career Polestar 2009” in our school. It was conducted by Mr. Kishore Nag (senior academic counselor), Professor Dhanwan (Pharmaceutical Department) ,Professor Nabanita Dutta (Medical department) and a few other learned individuals.

The experienced teachers introduced students to interesting courses like B.Pharmacy, Vision Science and Optometry and Health care management. The students learned a lot about the diverse career opportunity available to a science student apart from main course engineering and medical careers. It was an inspiring and informative session.
